Multiple people on a task and assigning sub tasks to different people.

The first message about this issue is from 2013?! And still this is not possible in Wunderlist pro? Can the Wunderleast team at least give a reaction about this?

Thank you for getting in touch. We haven’t had a chance to integrate that yet because it requires several design and sync changes across all platforms, so it is actually more complex than it sounds. However it is still on our agenda for the future when we improve Wunderlist for teams even more.
Regards from Berlin

Thank you for your kind answer. Hope to see this feature as soon as possible :)

Hi I am a Wunderlist fan!
wanted to follow up on this status as my company and staff grow I find it harder and harder to manage without having ability to assign sub-tasks. Please update.
Maria Ivanova - Jul 30, 2015 at 05:45PM CEST
Yes, very much in the same situation. Wunderlist and task assignment works for small projects and very small team. But as of right now it doesn't allow room for growth. Would love to keep using it but will need to switch till you guys get that feature in place. Thank you!
Ashley Berner - Aug 07, 2015 at 08:03PM CEST
I agree: would love to assign subtasks.
Tina Tisdall - Aug 18, 2015 at 05:50AM CEST
I agree, we would disribute in the company if this had subtask assignment
Kim McCann - Aug 18, 2015 at 08:31PM CEST
I just signed up today and am extremely disappointed that you can't assign subtasks to individuals in our group. Sadly, I just wasted money because this program will not work for us without it. I hope you can make the update soon.
Larry Crossan - Oct 03, 2015 at 04:50PM CEST
Agreed - I will not switch from Asana unless you can assign sub-tasks to different people.
Jim Turnage - Oct 25, 2015 at 03:06AM CET
Like those previous posters I need the ability to assign more than one person to a sub-task. The absence of this feature makes Wunderlist more of a "toy" than a business management solution.
Are there work-arounds? Any other apps/SW that can do this?
Thanks for any help.
Not giving up-yet.
Amy Lauria - Oct 29, 2015 at 04:57PM CET
We are in need of the same ability. We have used Asana as well but really would like use Wunderlist as it seems a bit mroe friendly for small companies. We just really need the ability to assign subtasks to others.
Any update on the status of this would be greatly appreciated.
Philip - Nov 02, 2015 at 12:52AM CET
Disappointing... What is the point of paying for unlimited subtasks if you have to work out ahead of time which person on the team is going to deal with them as you can't assign them to anyone but the master task owner?
I have to agree that this is a bit of a show stopper for a team of more than a couple of people and we will have to find another solution unless you can provide some sort of timeline when this will be fixed
Todor - Nov 25, 2015 at 09:52AM CET
We need this functionality. Otherwise it is a pain for middle and large projects. Also it becomes problem for projects with timespan more than 2 weeks.
Dominic Fallows - Jan 12, 2016 at 03:56PM CET
With the power of Microsoft behind the development, surely sorting out the apparent sync/UI updates is an easy task. This should be a priority feature if you expect professional teams to utilise it as the main task management tool.
Ed - Jan 26, 2016 at 10:10PM CET
Yep. assign subtasks and add custom smart lists + set priorities between task from different lists. Many things for which I miss asana when I use wunderlist. (but I use wunderlist for the awesome Mac App)
Szymon - Feb 07, 2016 at 08:35PM CET
Same here. Can't wait to see that feature.
Jason McQueen - Feb 07, 2016 at 10:43PM CET
And we're still waiting years later..
James - Feb 24, 2016 at 07:35PM CET
This needs to be implemented, we're fed up with it. It's just ridiculous.
Frank - Feb 24, 2016 at 11:26PM CET
Well I don't mean to be rude but it was pretty shortsighted to not have implemented this in a collaborative todo list. 9 months later... any update?
James - Feb 24, 2016 at 11:27PM CET
How can you even justify calling wunderlist a collaborative to-do list if you can only assign tasks to 1 specific person.
Downloaded it, thought ok... maybe they will implement this is a few people ask for it... find out they have over 3 years ago... wow.

I just want to chime in here and give some clarification around these features. We didn’t implement them from the get-go because we think that they – especially assigning more than one user to a single task – would be confusing for a team. That being said, we are listening to our users and are tracking requests for these features. Maybe it makes sense to rethink our approach.
All the best,
Sam - Feb 25, 2016 at 10:24PM CET
Just agreeing with the rest - would like to see multiple ppl assigned to a single "to-do". Hoping it gets integrated quickly.
Dominic Fallows - Feb 29, 2016 at 09:45AM CET
@Keturah: Multiple people per task is a must really, we love Wunderlist - but without this - we basically have to duplicate tasks - which is messy.
We'd love to use Wunderlist as a super-task-list/min-project-management system.
To extend - sub-tasks should also be able to be assigned to (multiple) people.
William Ingram - Mar 05, 2016 at 03:13AM CET
For my organisation, assigning responsibility for sub-tasks is really key. I would assign the task to myself, and the sub-tasks to staff members. (Assigning tasks to multiple people is less important to us than being able to assign sub-tasks to different people.) I could then see as staff completed the sub-tasks contributing to the overall task. This would help with both delegation of tasks and reporting on their completion. Being able to see your active tasks and sub-tasks in the 'Assigned to me' list would help a lot too. We use the free account now, but would definitely pay to use the application if the above were possible.
Neil Johnston - Mar 08, 2016 at 11:29PM CET
Being able to assign tasks and sub tasks to different people is crucial. For my team it is the only part missing of what is a great tool.
Please please put this in place, everyone is asking for it.
People would pay to have what should be a simple and basic function in place.
Listen to your customers.. they are the only reason you keep developing the product.
Florian - Mar 14, 2016 at 03:21AM CET
according to the answer of Keturah I think it's important to tell u (the developers) that both functions (assigning to multiple users AND assigning subtasks) are necessary to push Wunderlist to more than another ToDo-List. For me and my team it's a work and time saving thing - but this functionality would give us a big advantage against other ToDo-Lists and software. Wunderlist in it's acutal config is really good and far better than many competitors. But it can and should be updated and bettered every time it's possible - and this would be a big push for the functionality!
Please update soon!
India - Mar 19, 2016 at 01:18PM CET
Hi Keturah, I use Wunderlist for work and home and even for my tasks for home there are particular tasks that I would like to assign to both myself and my partner to do around the house. The same for work. If there is a project that we are working on there are pieces of that project that multiple people should be handling and having the ability to assign the tasks/subtasks to multiple people is a must have! Hopefully we see this SOON!
Sandra - Mar 23, 2016 at 02:03PM CET
Assigning sub-tasks is very crucial for my team. Please add functionality. Thank you
Isabelle P - Mar 31, 2016 at 12:55AM CEST
Adding my voice to all the other requests for what seems a pretty basic feature. I use Wunderlist at home and in my small business and in both arenas the ability to a) assign a task to more than one person and b) assign sub-tasks to people (other than the task's creator) would be a great productivity help.
Hannes Uys - May 06, 2016 at 04:14PM CEST
I love Wunderlist and we are using it in our company. I am on my second year on Pro.
We would love to upgrade to Business, but not until this issue is resolved, not being able to assign to and add a due date in subtasks limits the use of Wunderlist in our company and especially in logistics where we use it all the time.
I hope this will be resolved soon
Jonathan Starr - May 09, 2016 at 07:27PM CEST
Really need this feature ASAP!
Daniel - May 10, 2016 at 02:40AM CEST
to be able to assign multiple people to a single task is EXTREMELY important. especially if you have a team of 96 people. I downloaded this app thinking that it would be helpful but because of this one simple unavailable option, i will have to switch to another app.
Sebastian - May 12, 2016 at 02:02PM CEST
We are a small team of 9, using Wunderlist for our gaming project. Assigning multiple users to a task would be extremely usefull. Often times a task in a gaming project requires multiple persons to work in it (Like for example sound and coding).
Matt - May 13, 2016 at 04:27PM CEST
Would need this implemented as well, we have multiple team members working on a specific projects
Dawid Jernström - May 15, 2016 at 11:16PM CEST
Still no way of assigning a task to multiple users?
matt - Jun 03, 2016 at 02:41AM CEST
Yea my entire business would switch over from Asana if this feature were available.
As it stands, it's a real indication of a business when people complain about a necessary feature for business (the meat of your income) and you don't implement it for years.
Come on guys! Let's get with it.

For the love of something, tweaking it across platforms surely is easier than creating the software(see your response above). Status please.

Accidentally downed my own post. Anyway - what is the point of sharing folders and lists if you cannot have multiple people assigned to the task(s). Antiquated.
Erik - Jun 13, 2016 at 07:10PM CEST
Yes, for the love of Pete, implement multiple assignments on one task. This is literally the perfect To-Do app in every way, besides this gaping oversight. Assigning sub-tasks also a must.
Phoebe - Jun 20, 2016 at 12:31AM CEST
This is head and shoulders above all other task management apps for its ease of use and super slick interface. I just signed up today and am going to have to cancel my paid subscription because without the ability to assign subtasks this is useless for my team.
Phoebe - Jun 20, 2016 at 12:54AM CEST
Forgot to add... I also can't use something that "hides" the subtasks under the task...You can't see any subtasks (expect that there are some and how many) from the main list view, which sucks. If we could just add a task to the list, then drag it to the right to make it a subtask (and, of course, assign it to someone or multiple people), that would be perfect. Wunderlist would have me for life.
David - Jun 29, 2016 at 12:52PM CEST
I know you get the message by now.. but here's just another friendly reminder
Jodi - Jul 04, 2016 at 07:43PM CEST
I've really been enjoying Wunderlist, but not having the ability to assign one task to multiple users is incredibly frustrating. I don't really understand the staff's response that it would be too confusing. If a specific user or team found it confusing then they could simply choose not to use that feature. I would imagine it's probably even possible to make it an option that you could turn on or off in the settings. But clearly there are a lot of people who need this feature. I hope that a fix for this problem is already in progress and will be ready to be implemented very soon.
Rebecca - Jul 07, 2016 at 10:46PM CEST
How is this not sovled yet? I just introduced this app to my entire company, and we can't share task assignments. Can you guys inform us why this is? Also, is there a tagging feature in comments? Maybe I chose the wrong task manager app.
Jonny L - Jul 12, 2016 at 01:55AM CEST
For every answer here, there are dozens of lost customers. Hire extra people and add this feature or lose out on growth of your business. This was reported in 2013??
Johnnie - Jul 12, 2016 at 06:14PM CEST
Ive just bought the pro version and find it crazy that multiple user task assignment is not possible. can i have my money back please?
worse than that i've spent a while setting this up with my team and now we have to find something else.

I'm in on this as well. I'm considering moving to Wrike or Asana as I begin to use Wunderlist more and more with my growing business. This is one of the BEST apps I've ever used - I want to continue as a raving fan!
Ozhan Ozturk - Aug 16, 2016 at 03:29PM CEST
Its a great application but since 2013 if you cant improve and add multiple assignments on one task, its really a big disappointment. hope you can do it before 2017
Linda - Aug 16, 2016 at 05:32PM CEST
I agree with everyone else: the ability to assign subtasks and multiple users to the overarching task is essential. Disappointed
Forrest - Aug 25, 2016 at 06:06AM CEST
I agree with each comment above. If wunderlist truly wants to be more than a grocery reminder, you need to add the feature of assigning more than one person to a task.
Tran Nguyen - Sep 14, 2016 at 05:38PM CEST
I hope you can work on this function as soon as possible. It's very important to my team. We always have many people work on one project together

Jacob Jones - Sep 24, 2016 at 05:59PM CEST
Just another Wunderlist user adding my voice. Would love to see sub task assignment and multiple user assignment as soon as possible! I think this is a fantastic piece of software, and it would make jobs that much easier at my company if we could have those features available!
Matthew Scott - Sep 28, 2016 at 09:36PM CEST
I too am looking at implementing this into my Company, we are a small team but I too initially would have liked to be able to assign sub tasks. Having used the software a bit more I now dont believe that the Sub task list should be or was designed to be used in that way. If you look at the sub-task as an individuals list of steps that they are going to do to complete a task that they have been assigned. So the task is assigned to a user then the sub tasks belong to them. If you dont want this detail then dont use sub tasks and stick to task level (where each can be assigned to a user). Wunderlist im with you on the non assignable sub tasks.
I think you need an extra shareable layer in the task structure. At present you only have 2 shareable layers LIST > TASK. I think to make things really useful you need to make all 3 layers shareable FOLDER > LIST > TASK. That way all of the commenters who want to be able to assign sub-tasks can then pull them sub-tasks back to TASK level, the tasks will then become LIST level, and the lists will become FOLDER level.
Clear as mud I know but hopefully it makes a biut of sense.
Paxton31 - Sep 28, 2016 at 11:40PM CEST
Our university really needs this capability. Please add quickly. If not, they're going to switch to Trello and I don't want that to happen. We need to be able to assign multiple people to tasks.
Matthew scott - Sep 29, 2016 at 05:21PM CEST
Instead of trying to assign multiple people to a 'task'. Just make a 'list' instead and then use the tasks in that list assign the various people too.
The lists can then be sorted into folders of required.
Simone - Sep 30, 2016 at 08:28PM CEST
Unfortunately it seems this feature will never arrive.. Which is a deal breaker for me and my team. The last thing I wish to do is to drop Wunderlist for Trello, but we need a little more flexibility.
Vlad - Oct 13, 2016 at 04:02PM CEST
Adding my vote to this.
Zoe Willis - Oct 24, 2016 at 06:57AM CEST
yep agreed with all comments, may have to make the switch to trello... unfortunately, love wunderlist but it just doesnt work for more than a couple of people in a team.... shame there is still no update...
Neil - Oct 25, 2016 at 10:41AM CEST
Agreed with above. Come on, Wunderlist gang. We cannot implement this across our team with out it.
Nico - Nov 02, 2016 at 10:35PM CET
I would love to rollout wunderlist with three clients now, but over and over they ask for subtask allocation to users. Please show that not every app that Microsoft touches gets worse but in this case better...
Why is there no update from you guys since May, 2015???

Marco - Nov 24, 2016 at 07:33PM CET
This is like an instant buy feature, why havent wunderlist team focused a good part of their resources in this feature, its like a must for teams with many situations and logistics that requiere asigning multiple persons to a task, please add this!
Sami Pekaz - Nov 26, 2016 at 07:28PM CET
Hi, new customer here!
So- my vote for that feature: assigning sub-tasks to one or more people as well to make our lifes easier.
I have missed to see in discussion any potential work arounds. I am wandering would this work for a small company:
Set due date
Sub-task 1.1 : S will do this
Sub-task 1.2 : G will do that
- You have 1 Task and 2 sub-tasks- where you have "assigned" by description first sub-task to one person and second one to another person... Surely this will work - unless you have to assign the sub-task to both of them!? In which case - just write that in the description and have the assignee 1 write a comment when they are done and the final assignee tick of the task when done?
Many thanks for any feedback
Daniel - Dec 04, 2016 at 06:05PM CET
Assigning sub-tasks are still a must. We tried using Wunderlist for a year since we have some raving fans but now our small company of five must switch. Bu-bye, please let us know if you ever add this feature!
Jake - Dec 14, 2016 at 08:36PM CET
The inability to assign multiple people to tasks, especially considering the multitude of requests for that exact feature, is galling. We would love to Wunderlist at our startup but this inability is incredibly hampering. Get on it.
David Tuffney - Dec 19, 2016 at 10:15AM CET
Ever tried listening to your customers? Your arrogance beggars belief. We loved Wonder but have grown out of it due to this inability to assign tasks. Goodbye and good riddance.

First request I can see for this is 2013. It's now 2017 and still no fix for this? I can't see how this would be difficult to implement.

You’re right – we’ve been discussing adding assigning on subtasks and for multiple people for quite some time. Unfortunately, as my colleague Marcel pointed out, it does require many changes both to our design as well as our sync. Because of the amount of work it would require, we decided to place the project on hold while tackling a few other priorities. I’m really sorry about that!
All the best,
Andy - Feb 02, 2017 at 10:04PM CET
I also want to add my voice to be able to assign one to-do to multiple people. It would be very helpful!
Manuel - Feb 08, 2017 at 11:18AM CET
I want to add my voice too, i can understand that this features brings deep changes on the application architecture, but in this moment, until wunderlist will not add this feature, im 100% sure i will not subscribe to pro.
Indeed, its the only feature that i need on a to-do list, i don't care if i can ad multiple users on a task or in the subtasks.
I Love your software, but atm, for me, its only half useful on a medium size It department management, i got always several tasks witch must be attended by 2 or more of my people.
Just my opinion, keep on the good work, but please, have in mind this request, but since this request are "on the table" from 2013, and you don't have planed develop it on the short term, im looking for alternatives.
Jos - Mar 07, 2017 at 01:36PM CET
It's a must, since it happens many times a week that I would want to assign a todo to more than myself. I can imagine the tech challenge. But we are now four years into this topic. How much time would you need? Can you comment on the status of this request? Are there people working on it? Or it this still in the fridge?

In that case, can someone recommend an app that does the following:
I want to set up a list, let's call it a "master list". Then, I need to share that list with 31 operations managers so that they can track their individual progress against the list (the operations managers do not need to see each other's progress). Since I am maintaining the "master list", I can always add/edit tasks and those adds/edits would be reflected on the lists of the 31 operations managers.
I love Wunderlist, but I can't wait for the multiple users functionality.
Jon Åberg - Mar 21, 2017 at 09:02AM CET
How is it still not possible to assign a task to multiple of my colleagues in Wunderlist Business?
A function like that should be a basic feature and is crucial to make a project / to-do-list work smoothly.
Why is the work to fix that put on hold Keturah? And is there any info on when work on it will be resumed?
Kind regards, Jon
Anthony Starkey - Apr 06, 2017 at 05:31AM CEST
I would like to see a feature that allows multiple users to be assigned to one task. This feature is a must for a large team of people. Also I I believe that once a subtask is created it should prevent the main task from being completed until all sub tasks have been verified. Whether it is a dialog box that informs you that all subtasks have not been completed or some other verification method I think it would be a helpful feature. Otherwise someone could easily forget a subtask. And yeah I have to agree that 4 years is ridiculous for not having added some of the features, especially since you are charging a monthly subscription for this.
Steve - Apr 13, 2017 at 06:51PM CEST
Why isnt this feature added yet? This thread was added 2 years ago! Sub tasks for the win guys come on!
Make it a premium feature and I would pay for it.
Love your software use it all day everyday, but the crazy amount of "to do's" is getting out of hand!
adam koch - Apr 20, 2017 at 12:38AM CEST
I am a paid customer and have potentially 40-50 additional users for this as I am a builder. I will be taking my business elsewhere if there is no effort on solving this.
Cassidy Dimon - May 04, 2017 at 09:38PM CEST
I would love to upgrade to a paying business customer, however, this still hasn't been fixed?
Over four years since the issue was first brought up?
I'll be researching some other options as well...
David Lee - May 10, 2017 at 06:15PM CEST
It seems like many people have asked for this feature without the Wunderlist team doing much towards addressing the issue. I'm curious as to know what other development tasks are taking priority over a feature that's been requested by the community for over 4 years now. Do you feel that those tasks are going to resonate with your users more than addressing the following stories, "As a [user], I'd like to assign multiple team members to a single task" and "As a [user], I'd like to assign subtasks to multiple team members"?
It's understandable that there are many touch points when trying to address the user stories above and that it may take a significant amount of developmental & design effort. Think of your ROI though. I am amongst many on this thread who is looking to replace Wunderlist with another product chiefly due to the fact that your product is sans the said feature. Please have a better response than, "Right now developing the feature to assign multiple users to one task has been put on hold. I’m really sorry about that! We may be able to revisit this idea in the future, though."
Andrew Riggle - Jun 19, 2017 at 10:07PM CEST
Also hoping for the following:
"As a [user], I'd like to assign multiple team members to a single task"
"As a [user], I'd like to assign subtasks to multiple team members"
The absence of these features is preventing me from purchasing for my team.
Vittorio - Jun 30, 2017 at 11:14AM CEST

KBM - Aug 28, 2017 at 03:42PM CEST
I can't believe this isn't a feature yet when you've had this request on the docket for YEARS. Yes, I understand it's a lot of work to implement. But you've have 4 years to figure this out. And sometimes you do have to put in the extra work to keep your product desirable and competitive. It is specifically because you do not have these features that our team pays for a different service.

Seems to be a common issue in other task managements too. https://goo.gl/QPo8U5

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I found this app, wonderful, I got in all my team (8 people, which is 40€ per month, which is 480€ per year!!!!) hoping that with a PRO account it would be able to add multiple people to tasks and so on.... WHAT DO I FIND OUT??????? 4 years as an issue, as a feature to ADD, and nothing!!!
my team is made of 8 people, and I collaborate with 3 studios, all people I would have pushed into the app... YOU JUST LOST MORE THAT 2'000€ per year... you should be ashamed and feel a bit stupid for this...
