Thank you for letting us know what you need, and I’d love to help!
We’re very sorry that we do not support creating a smart list from tags. However, I think your suggestion is very useful and I have passed this on to our engineers. They might implement this in our new product, Microsoft To-Do [https://to-do.microsoft.com].
Thank you for your suggestion that could help shape our new product. In the meantime, have a great day!

Hi William, you can use the following workaround. You can create a list called "tag directory" where the items themselves are the tags. So, by accessing to that directory you can easily filter by each tag.
If you have lots of tags, you may want to use separate lists for each main grouping for easier search. For instance, I have the following 4 tag directories: "Work contexts", "personal contexts", "projects", "Miscellanea".
You can even make tag items recurring when you are done for the day with some tags.
The only thing you can't do in this way is to filter by multiple tags at once. For that, we will need to wait for smart lists in MS-ToDo
Hope this helps. Happy New Year
