Not receiving notifications on Huawei P20 lite

I have used wunderlist for years and find it an excellent app. However since changing my phone last month from a Huawei P9 lite to a Huawei p20 lite I have not been receiving notifications. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app; signed out and signed back in; checked that push notifications have been enabled (and unchecked this box and waited 5 seconds before checking again) and as far as I'm aware I have checked the power saving settings on my phone to allow the app to run in the background. Without the notifications I cannot use the app and have already missed important reminders because of this issue. Is there anything else I can try?

Thank you for reaching out to us and sorry for the trouble.
Please try the following steps:
- Go to Settings → Advanced settings → Battery manager → Protected apps, then find Wunderlist, and protect it. This is “whitelisting” the app so Huawei’s overeager software doesn’t shut it down for no reason.
- Go to Settings → Apps → advanced → Ignore battery optimizations, then find Wunderlist and ignore it. Don’t be tricked by the misleading wording, “ignoring” the app actually means to let it run, because you’re telling the battery optimization function to “ignore” that app.
- Go to Settings → Notification panel & status bar → Notification centre, then find Wunderlist, then activate “allow notifications” and also “priority display”. You have to activate the priority part too to make sure you get notifications.
- Go to Settings → Apps → special access → unlimited data access → choose Wunderlist and allow it
- Restart your phone.
The settings might vary on different Huawei devices, please check Phone Manager or similar apps/settings if it’s different on your phone.
If it still doesn’t work, please lock Wunderlist in the background so the phone won’t kill it and stop the push notifications. You can also enable email notifications as a workaround – since your email address is not confirmed in the system, I have sent you a confirmation email, please find it in your inbox and spam folders.
