Can't sign in on windows app

When I open Wunderlist in my browser, it let me create an account using my Outlook work email and it automatically signs me in whenever I return to that link.
When I download the app (Windows 10), it won't let me sign in at all. When I try and sign in via the outlook button, it takes me to 'create an account'. When I try and sign in via the 'work/uni' email option, it takes me to 'create an account'. Then when I try and create a new account (which I don't want to do because I already rely on what's in my web browser), it says my email address already has an account. When I try and sign in normally, it says it does not recognise my email.
I know this is a really common problem with Wanderlust, and so many people told me not to use it because of all the bugs and problems signing in. But I really like the layout and desperately want to use it as an app on my work laptop. Please let me know if you have any advice or suggestions for getting around this issue (I've read the other threads and it seems you just need someone from the app to come along and fix it on an individual basis - if so please help!)

As there is already an account under your email you contact us with, you should be able to log in with it. Please choose “sign in” on the first screen of the app instead of “create account”, and then choose the Microsoft button. If it doesn’t work, please try to enter your email and password – the email is the same as the Microsoft account, but the password is independent, so you might need to reset it.
I have just sent you an email to reset your password. Please check both your Inbox and Spam folders and follow the prompts.
